ABOUT THE CTIW FOUNDATION

OUR STORY

The Genesis of CTIW Foundation; A story of Love and a Promise for Tomorrow.

The CTIW Foundation was built on the hope that by investing in one child, you don’t just change a single life; you create a ripple effect that supports a family, strengthens a community, and ultimately, heals the world. It is a story that began with a simple question and continues today with every life touched, every bicycle given, and every dream supported. It is the story of living true love, for this generation and beyond.

The seed for CTIW was not planted in a boardroom, but in the heart of a young man named Mark Addo back in the 1990s. Even then, Mark had a rare and powerful empathy, a passion for nurturing children, not just academically, but spiritually. He wanted to help direct their paths.

It started as a small movement called the Love Foundation. The idea was simple: create Christian content that would encourage children. Mark didn’t work alone for long. His vision resonated with others, and soon, the movement grew with the involvement of dedicated individuals like Lexis Bill, John Germain, Eric Baidoo, Paul Amuzu, George Sarkodie and Eddie Blay, who helped in training the children. The foundation became a traveling heartbeat, moving across the country from the streets of Cape Coast to the communities of Suhum, touching lives wherever they went.

Their goal was clear and profound: to discover the potential in children the right way.

But the path was not always smooth. In 2008, the foundation faced a major challenge. They had partnered with organizers of theatre programs, but some of these partners acted in ways that contradicted the foundation’s mission. It was a painful lesson. After working through these difficult relationships with the creative industry, the Love Foundation made a pivotal decision: from then on, children would be the center of it all. No exceptions.

The vision took a break to be refined, but Mark’s passion never wavered.

Fast forward to 2011. Mark felt a renewed mission and a new concept taking shape: Children in Worship. He dreamed of creating Christian entertainment content that would truly engage children, not just perform for them. Despite the challenges of the past, his love for children pushed him forward.

In 2012, Children in Worship came to life, and something beautiful happened. As they gathered children to worship, they began to see the tangible needs around them. A child couldn’t focus because they were hungry. A family couldn’t afford basic healthcare. A student walked for hours just to get to school. It was then that the worship naturally extended into works of charity. Children in Worship became a Foundation for action.

That same year, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) took notice. They called on Mark to work with them. He agreed, but only on one condition, the same condition that had been forged in the fire of past experience: that the programming must be of good interest to children. For two solid years, he pushed forward with that promise.

Through it all, the mission remained rooted in what Mark saw with his own eyes: the vibrant spirit of children and youth in developing communities across Ghana. He saw them not as victims, but as what they truly are; the backbone of tomorrow’s economies and the greatest hope in the fight against poverty. He saw young boys and girls walking miles to under-resourced schools, families striving for healthcare, and communities held back not by a lack of will, but by a lack of opportunity.

The founders saw the vibrant spirit of children and youth in developing communities across Africa particularly in Ghana and recognized them for what they truly are: the backbone of tomorrow’s economies and the greatest hope in the fight against poverty.

To equip a rising generation with the skills and opportunities they need to build a future of their own.

Our vision is a generation of children, youth, and families in developing countries who are empowered to break the cycle of poverty, transformed by love, and equipped to build a future of hope, dignity, and lasting opportunity. The foundation believes youth and children are the backbone in the fight against poverty by having increased access to quality education, healthcare, good drinking water and equipping them with career development skills as a practical demonstration of God’s love regardless of race, colour, religious backgrounds, beliefs or ethnicity.

We believe that authentic, selfless love is the most powerful force for change. It compels us to serve the most vulnerable not out of pity, but out of a genuine commitment to their well-being, reflecting the love we have received.
